Your Goals and Your Future - Survey

Goals are something that I have been thinking about over the course of the last few months. I enrolled in a training course with Tom McCarthy to help change my mental thoughts, beliefs and emotions and to really get focused on becoming the person I want to be. This course opened my eyes to many things and goal setting is at the top of the list.
For me, I always thought of goals as these make believe things that we want in life. For me, what I want changes more often than insert something cool here.
I never really took the time to set goals for myself and for my businesses. I knew what I wanted, but never put something tangible down. I would generally say something like, we need 3 clients this week or we’re not hitting payroll, or it would be awesome if we got 100 new members in Label 2.0 by the end of the month.
What’s crazy is that, I didn’t hit either of those marks. There was no firm concept in my mind that I needed to hit them, even though in reality they would have been game changers.
Now I am starting to see the impact of goal setting. They are connected to my business and life visions. They give guidance for the tasks I am doing on a day-to-day basis and provide clarity in those tasks. When they are created right, they are measurable, trackable and specific.
As we get near the end of the year, many people start thinking about the coming year and what they want to accomplish. I am no different, except that I don’t wait till the end of the year. I am constantly creating goals for my business ventures, my personal life and everything in between.
But, it doesn’t matter about me. I want to know about you! In my last post about lifestyle design and taking action, I noted that Tony Robbins said only 10% of people have written goals. That stat sucks really bad - not because it was written in the 80’s, but because I fear its pretty true. You cannot achieve goals if you don’t know what you want to accomplish.
So, I want to learn about you. I have created a super simple 10 question survey on goals. It takes less than 2 minutes and would mean a lot for an upcoming report and project. I want to know if you have goals, why you set them, why you don’t and if you are visualizing a better future for yourself, or if you are just pretending to want a better life.
Thanks in advance. I know your time is valuable and I look forward to sharing the results with you.

I feel that goals are really important to find out deep inside yourself what you truly want, how your going to get it, and why you want to achieve that goal.
I write down my goals in a 2010 goals booklet. It is always in my wallet and I review it regularly. It keeps me focused on what really matters to me.
Enjoy and share,
Ronny
Hey Ronny,
The pocket idea is cool. Have you thought about or do you use any software to manage your goals/tasks?
If you’d like a tool for setting your goals for 2010, you can use this web application:
http://www.Gtdagenda.com
You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A Vision Wall (inspiring images attached to yor goals) is available too.
Works also on mobile.
Thanks Dan - checked out the site. It has some good ideas in it. I’d love to see some more live demos and also some video on how the mobile version works, looks. I think that would be very appealing to the demographic you are targeting. Thanks for the heads up on the site.
